Summary:
Senior writer with excellent skills in the relevant tools like Frame and or InDesign; must be able to write about the general technology being documented; the product itself; planning, scheduling, and estimating; and research. Manages assignments and schedules with input from the Technical Communications Manager. Provides direction to lower-level writers on the same project.
Responsibilities include:
- Researches, schedules, and writes technical documentation that is technically complete and accurate
- Serves as lead on selected large documentation projects
- Defines the target audience and documentation components
- Plans, schedules, and contributes to selection of project team
- Provides status reports to management and the development team as required
- Interfaces with peers in QA, Development, Usability, Sales, Marketing, Training, and Project Management as required for a given project
- Maintains familiarity with corporate writing standards and serves as reference
- Assists other writers with questions about: Technical writing and departmental processes
- Adherence to project schedule
- Adherence to corporate style
- Positive feedback from customers, both internal and external, on accuracy (both content and style) of documentation
Required Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Technical Communications, English, or Journalism; certificate in Technical Writing; or equivalent work experience is required
- Proficiency with MS Office applications required
- Expertise with FrameMaker and RoboHelp desired
- Must have strong analytical skills, including written and verbal communication
- Must be able to efficiently and effectively interview subject-matter experts to gather necessary information
- Excellent editing skills required
>Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical writing/documentation environment in the software industry
