Translations.com Proud Sponsor of the Ground Zero Museum Workshop

"Since we opened last year, we have had many tourists from all over the world that could not speak English and who could only look at the images but not understand the stories behind them," says Suson, who acts as the museum's curator. The Ground Zero Museum Workshop found volunteers to do the voiceover work for self-guided tours, but they first needed translations of print materials and audio scripts.

As part of its sponsorship of the museum, Translations.com provided over 25,000 words of translations into Spanish and Italian. According to Phil Shawe, Translations.com's President & CEO, "being headquartered in New York City, many of our staff were affected the by the tragedy of 9/11. This was a great opportunity for us to use our resources to give something back."

"The Ground Zero Museum Workshop staff wishes to thank Translations.com for the generous donation of foreign language translations for the new Museum. The services provided by Translations.com will help thousands more tourists understand what happened during the Ground Zero recovery period. In addition, the speed and professionalism with which the Translations.com team operated was most impressive. We cannot thank them enough," said Suson.

About the Ground Zero Museum Workshop

Located in the Meatpacking district, just a few miles from Ground Zero, the Ground Zero Museum Workshop is a not-for-profit organization that aims to educate the public about the valiant recovery efforts of the FDNY and other recovery workers in the years following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The museum donates proceeds to charities that benefit victims and their families and Ground Zero rescue workers. All photography in the museum is shot by Gary Marlon Suson, who was named Official Photographer at Ground Zero by the Uniformed Fire Officers Association in November 2001.
