TRANSLATIONS.COM ACQUIRES LANGUAGE FOR INDUSTRY
Combined Companies Offer End-to-End Solutions for Software Localization and Global Language Services

NEW YORK, New York, March 21, 2002 - translations.com, inc., a leader in software localization, enterprise language translation and website globalization solutions, announced today the successful acquisition of the operating subsidiaries of Language for Industry (LFI), headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Great Hill Partners, a Boston-based firm with over $1 Billion under management and a longstanding financial partner of LFI, will retain an interest in the combined companies. translations.com investors include Deutsche Bank and Pennell Venture Partners, a venture capital firm based in New York City.

The transaction will substantially expand the company's engineering, testing, consulting, account management, and production capacity for its global client base. Additionally, LFI's technical writing and information design division will retain the name Terra Pacific and expand the firm's scope of content development services. LFI's 35 employees boast an average of over ten years' experience in the language services industry and the company's clients include leaders in the information technology, automotive, aviation, financial services, medical device, educational publishing, manufacturing, software, and telecommunications industries. translations.com enjoys a similar client profile and employs over 50 people in nine offices on three continents.

"The most important factors in our decision to join our two companies were LFI's rich history, track record of exceptional service, and technical expertise in the localization business throughout the last decade," said Phil Shawe, President and Chief Executive Officer of translations.com. "This strategic transaction enhances our core competency and expands our ability to respond to the exploding demand for global language services," continued Shawe.

translations.com specializes in helping technology companies and multinational corporations localize software and Web-based applications, as well as manage their translation and globalization projects on a corporate level across company divisions -- from corporate marketing materials and websites to eLearning and training materials. "We are excited about teaming up with translations.com by merging both companies' strengths to create a global leader," said Marc Johnson, General Manager of Deliverables for LFI.
