TransPerfect Global Retail Forum Brings Together Thought Leaders on Cross-Border Commerce

NYC Event Headlined by New York University’s Scott Galloway

NEW YORK, NY, May 9, 2018 – TransPerfect, the world’s largest provider of language and technology solutions for global business, recently held its seventh annual Global Retail Forum at the Grand Hyatt New York. The one-day event on April 24 attracted over 200 retail brands who either target global markets or have aspirations of doing so. It provides them with an arena in which to benchmark against other leading retailers and interact with thought leaders about strategies that can help energize their global campaigns and initiatives.

The program included keynote presentations from NYU Stern School of Business Professor of Marketing Scott Galloway and brand and style consultant Janel Dyan, as well as a panel moderated by Carl Miller of the Global Retail Insights Network. Other panelists included:

  • Alexandra Alessi – Fresh
  • Cataldo de Franco – Lavazza
  • Laura Madden – TransPerfect
  • Rohan Mittal – TUMI
  • Steven Moy – R/GA
  • Sapna Parikh – Clarins Group
  • Zari Venhaus – Eaton

Sponsors for this year’s event included Worldpay, eShopWorld, Episerver, Mamenta, and Shortlyster.

Ragini Mittal, Agile Project Manager, E-Commerce Technology at TUMI, commented, “TransPerfect’s Global Retail Forum provided an excellent learning opportunity for me. I took away some key knowledge on taking iteration as a learning curve to enhance project and process development, as well as some incredible insights into Amazon from Scott Galloway that will help me in my job immediately.”

In the event’s afternoon keynote, Galloway, a renowned retail expert, provided candid and insightful commentary on a number of subjects pertaining to the state of commerce. He touched on the scale and strength of Amazon, industries he feels are most primed for disruption, artificial intelligence, and the importance he feels that AI and voice interaction will play in the future of consumerism.

Jason Liptak, Digital Globalization and International Strategy Leader at Delta Air Lines, remarked, As we become more mature in our global customer approach, our partnership with TransPerfect has gone beyond just translating words on a website—we’re challenging “home market” pitfalls, connecting with other global brands at the Global Retail Forum, and developing creative solutions to local market issues.”

TransPerfect President and CEO Phil Shawe commented, “TransPerfect’s Global Retail Forum provides a thought-provoking platform for us to learn from our clients and for our clients to learn from each other. Best practices in global retail and e-commerce are constantly evolving, and we consider this event essential to keeping our technology and service offerings in line with industry trends. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all speakers, sponsors, and attendees who made this event a success.”
